Prepare
There are over 450,000 residents in Pasco County, Florida. One third of those residents live along the 18 mile Gulf coast. Of those that do have a hurricane evacuation plan, nearly 70% (140,000) will not have all the supplies and important documents to sustain themselves for 3 days, or aid in their own recovery post-disaster. As discussed on our "Hazards" pages, hurricanes are just one element that can create a disaster for Pasco residents.
A significant amount of industrial shipping, both by rail and truck pass through Pasco County each day. Additionally, Pasco County Florida also has houses in the approach paths for Tampa International and Clearwater/St. Petersburg airports, as well as the Space Shuttle program. A comprehensive "all-hazards" preparedness plan is your best survival tool for all of Pasco County's hazards. The Office of Emergency Management is positioned to assist Pasco County residents and businesses in the development of their all-hazard preparedness plans.
