CURRENT SITUATION:

Low pressure system is predicted to hold temperatures overnight in the 30's throughout Pasco County. These conditions will continue Wednesday overnight and begin a warming trend as we move toward the weekend.

These low temperatures and wind chills are dangerous to anyone who will be outside for a long period of time. Children, the elderly and pets are especially vulnerable to the cold and extra care should be taken to protect them. Make sure to bundle up and dress in layers to keep as warm as possible! PASCO COUNTY HAZARD MITIGATION COMMITTEE

 

Public Notice is hereby given that the Pasco County Hazard Mitigation Committee will hold a public annual meeting on Monday, January 23, 2012 at the Pasco County Emergency Operations Center, 8744 Government Drive, Building A, New Port Richey, FL, 34654 at 1:30 p.m., to discuss any needed updates to the multi-jurisdictional Local Mitigation Strategy for Pasco County.

Pasco County, in coordination with the municipalities, developed a Local Mitigation Strategy in 1998 as part of the State of Florida’s “Breaking the Cycle” initiative.  A 2009 Local Mitigation Strategy Update to the plan was issued to bring the Local Mitigation Strategy into compliance with the local hazard mitigation requirements of Section 322 of the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000.  The Local Mitigation Strategy is a plan developed with input from the community, business and industry and local government to promote hazard mitigation and to manage post-disaster recovery.  The plan must be reviewed annually and updated as necessary to address the federal guidance promulgated as a result of the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000.  The purpose of this meeting is to discuss any overall updates to the plan that are needed and to specifically update the project list which has been developed by the Hazard Mitigation Planning Committee.

FLASH REPORT #1 NATIONWIDE EAS TEST 11/9/2011

On November 9th at 2:00pm Eastern Time (ET), the Federal Emergency Management Agency in coordination with the Federal Communications Commission and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration will conduct the first Nationwide Emergency Alert System (EAS) Test.

SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loans Available for Florida

SBA Economic Injury disaster loans are available to small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, small businesses engaged in aquaculture and most private non-profit organizations of all sizes located in Florida as a result of the drought and excessive heat that began on Jan. 1, 2011.

Disaster Loans Available To Pasco County Storm Victims

The Small Business Administration (SBA) is accepting  loan applications from Pasco residents whose homes or business were physically damaged or their business sustained economic injury during the recent storms. The application filing dates are through June 6, 2011 for physical damage and January 9, 2012 for economic damage.

A severe storm front moved across Pasco County on March 31st and again on April 4, 2011causing heavy wind damage and local areas of flooding. Residents who sustained damage can apply for loans from the SBA to make repairs. Information on how to apply can be found at: http://www.sba.gov or by calling (800) 659-2955.

Pasco County would like to remind residents to use contractors who are licensed, insured and currently registered with the County.
