Local Mitigation Strategy
Pasco County, in coordination with the local municipalities of Dade City, New Port Richey, Port Richey, San
Antonio, St. Leo and Zephyrhills, developed a single, unified Local Mitigation Strategy in 1998 as part of the State
of Florida’s "Breaking the Cycle" initiative. The Local Mitigation Strategy is a plan developed with input from the
community, business and industry and local government to promote hazard mitigation and to manage post-disaster
recovery.
The plan has recently required updating to address the federal guidance promulgated as a result of the "Disaster
Mitigation Act of 2000."
The final version of the Pasco County Local Mitigation Strategy is available here for public scrutiny and

Appendix A – Community Guiding Principles :Pre-and Post-Disaster Planning Goals of Pasco County and its
Municipalities
Appendix B – Hazard Maps : Graphic representation of various hazards that can impact Pasco County and its
Municipalities
Appendix C – Repetitive Loss Area (RLA) Maps and Mitigation Efforts :Graphic representation and documentation
reflecting repetitive loss areas and what actions are being taken to mitigate the losses in these areas
Appendix D – Critical Facility Maps :This section has been deliberately excluded from the following per Florida
State Statutes 281.301 and 119.071, since revelation of the information contained in the map could pose a security
risk for Pasco County and its citizens.
Appendix E – Hazard Mitigation Project/Program List :Projects and programs being worked or planned within Pasco
County and its Municipalities to mitigate the impact of hazards
